Clinical governance leads

PCT clinical governance leads are important customers for NHS influencers. They have been identified by both NICE and the national clinical directors (czars), as important local stakeholders in coordinating the implementation of NICE guidance and the achievement of NSF milestones and targets.

PCT clinical governance support team

NHS influencers should also be aware there is a national clinical governance support team (CGST), which is part of the Modernisation Agency. The CGST runs training programmes for NHS staff to support clinical governance on the ground. See www.cgsupport.nhs.uk for more details.

Clinical governance has also been extended to community pharmacists, where PCTs are attempting to bring community pharmacies into local clinical governance arrangements for primary care as a whole.
